I got to meet Lisa Nichols!!!!!!!!

OK~ An experience to get out of the Broers driveway by noon on Friday and to arrive at the Minneapolis Convention Center by 5:00 p.m. Friday evening. Todd was traveling on minimum hours of sleep and I was just ready to get on the road. Jeremy was kind enough to head out to The St. Croix Bluffs Regional Park to land us the perfect camp site for the week-end. Since I had won this opportunity, Kari suggested we camp all week-end. You know, the worst part of the week-end was packing everything up to head home. And, of course we bucked a North wind on the way to Minneapolis & a strong South wind on the way home! Just can't win in the travel department.

Lisa Nichols is the author of a book called No Matter What. If you are truly looking for a great, easy read book, you will love her book. She does challenge you to think about yourself along the way. She is full of energy and has a drive to succeed! I am so grateful to Momlogic for allowing me the opportunity to meet her. My sister and I were personally escorted back to meet with her a few minutes before her program. Wow- she is a powerhouse!

The evening was awesome! What amazes me is that there were 300 something people in this room on a beautiful Friday evening in Minneapolis to hear her! This just motivated me to get moving on some more speaking engagements and to keep the focus on where I want to go!

Anyway, the week-end was awesome! Weather was beautiful and the St. Croix river was beautiful. Just wish it wasn't a 3 hour drive to get there! Well, after all, it's all in a Mom's day, right?

Why I am a MEAN Mom!

OK~ Contemplating the top "5" reasons my kids think I am one mean Mom!

1~ I suggest a daily bath
2~ The "F" word is not appropriate
3~ Family Guy is a show that I DO NOT approve of
4~ Bed time comes around at 10:00 p.m.
5~ The dogs should stay in their kennels when their paws are muddy

I honestly don't think I am that MEAN, but according to my 14 & 18 year old boys, I am one mean MOM! Well, after all, it's all in a Mom's day, right?

Seven Seas Lagoon, here they come!

OK~ The family is enjoying Disney and all it has to offer in March 2007. The sun is shining and it's time to go relax at the Polynesian Resort. We got a nice little coupon for the boys to ride this luxurious, fun looking boat for about an hour. Blaine had his driver's license, so he was full speed ahead! Garrett went along for the adventure, and an adventure it was!

Todd & I enjoyed a relaxing hour, without two boys! We ventured down to the docking area about 10 minutes before we anticipated their arrival. Low and behold, a tow boat was coming in, pulling our two boys and this luxurious boat! I had always wondered if all of those boats with employees on them ever had to actually "do" anything in the Seven Seas Lagoon. Well, wouldn't you know it- the boys had a boat that quit running! Who would have guessed. Garrett reported that most of their ride was his brother trying to figure out how to start the darn thing. But then this nice man in this tow boat came to tow us back..........Go figure. After all, it's all in a Mom's day, right?

What a GREAT day!

Ok~I usually don't have this good of a day-- but, today was awesome! Blaine graduated from high school and received a $1,000.00 scholarship for college. Way to go! I am so proud of him and know that he is finding his way. What a road it has been! What a great feeling to know that he made it happen! Life is challenging and sometimes it just takes a teacher to really get to know the student as a person. I am so thankful that he had caring teachers that were able to accept him for who he is! Way to go, Blaine!

Then, a few minutes later I get an e-mail from Momlogic! I get to meet lifecoach Lisa Nichols on May 29th in Minneapolis. Wow, what a great day! Now, on to the week-end festivities! Graduation party to plan for and everything that goes with it. After all, it's all in a Mom's day, right?

Birthdays come and go!

OK~A birthday- Birthdays are a special time for everyone! After all, it sure beats the alternative, doesn't it? Our youngest son just turned 14. I recall the day that he turned 2 and my boys were now 2 & 6. I remember contemplating: someday they will be 4&8, 5&9, 10&14 and NOW they are 14 & 18. Time goes by so quickly, literally in the blink of an eye. After all, it's all in a Mom's day, right?

Swine flu parties!

OK~ I know Moms can be desperate. But, I am now learning that some Moms are attending swine flu parties with their children. The theory being that their children will get the swine flu from an infected person at one of these so called get togethers. As a Mom who tries to be informed of current news events, it is to my knowledge that this flu is new and scientists really don't understand it. Therefore, I think these Moms are crazy!

I have heard of Moms taking their kids to chicken pox parties, and am thinking this type of party falls under the same category. When my oldest son was almost a year old he had the chicken pox and my youngest son (four years later) got the chicken pox when he was 11 months old. Not sure if it's still this way, but they both could have been vaccinated for the chicken pox at the age of 1! Well, we didn't make it to that. Not sure where my kids picked the good old chicken pox up from, but this Mom did not take them to a party of any sorts.............Well, after all it's all in a Mom's day, right?

Stamps, stamps, stamps OK

OK~ Here the United States Postal service goes AGAIN.....Starting Monday, May 11th, 2009- a first class stamp will be 44 cents. Any wonder why so many of us pay our bills online?????? Seems like a no brainer for the most part, don't you think? Just recently we mailed out postcards for our sons graduation party and I made the comment to my husband that I needed to buy postcard stamps, he says, "What will they cost? Maybe 15 cents a piece- HELLOOOO- they were 27 cents a piece.

A reality check, we really don't mail many items anymore. But, I do like to send out cards to friends now and then- so I will gladly pay the 44 cents, as the people I am sending those cards to are well worth those two extra pennys! After all, it's all in a Mom's day, right?

What a day-------

OK~ My reflection on today:

It just doesn't seem right that a Mother should have to bury her 10 year old son..........

Two weeks from this coming Saturday is the day- Can't believe it, but two weeks from tonight is the actual Graduation Ceremony......Where did those years go??? After all, it's all in a Mom's Day, right?

Cell phone jingle

OK~ How many of you parents have a special cell phone jingle for your child when they call you? I am tempted to not have one.....Wow, I despise that ring. I immediately think- What happened? How long the car will be in the body shop? Mom, I need some lunch money! But, today I received a terrible call.......My 18 year old son called to tell me his good friend's little brother was hit by a car last evening while crossing the street, and died. This was a heart wrenching phone call, not one I care to get again.

It brought back many memories of Jan. 19, 2005, when my 17 year old nephew was killed in an auto accident. Just another one of God's reminders- Hug your kids! Tell them you love them! Live each day to the fullest, as we never know when God will call us home.

Maybe I should keep that jingle, next time it may be a ,"Thanks, Mom," call!

RIP-------Deosha's little brother
