Your family looks like triathlon material~ Is this woman kidding?

OK~ Our family does head to the YMCA on a regular basis, partially due to the recommendation of a Mayo Clinic Physician.  Last Friday Garrett ( he did not have school), Todd  & I  went to the YMCA to exercise.  We each tend to have a regular routine.  The conversation went like this:

The lady that works on the Fitness Floor:  "You guys come here regularly, see you all the time!"

Me:  "Yeah"

The Employee:  "You are all fit!"

Me:  "Ummmm"

The Employee:  "Would your family like to compete in our family triathlon"

Me:  "No, We may look fit, but we are not that fit!"

When I told Todd what she said he says to me, "Did you laugh in her face?"

We do not consider ourselves to be "that" fit!  I thought about it- Well, we do go and workout regularly and do the best that we can.  My legs just do not move right at times and I would probably collapse in a triathlon!  I do all I can to walk on that treadmill for  30 min. on most days!  The fact that we are moving on a regular basis is a good thing and maybe we should be thankful that we are able to move like we do.

My fitness goal is to keep my legs/ feet flexible- and the rest of  my body does benefit!  Somedays are not easy and I only go maybe 15 minutes, but I try!  I won't give up....Being Bootstrapped in Iowa is probably a good thing, as this Mom will do all that she can to remain as active as possible~ After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?


  1. I was just thinking today that I need to get back into my walking routine I used to go for a 5 mile walk 4 nights a week but I got away from it. Just walking can make a big difference. You may of inspired me to get back into it again.
