Have you tried Country Bob's Barbeque Sauce~ it's a rockin'

COUNTRY BOBS~ SURE ROCKED THIS HOUSE~ YOU GOTTA TRY THIS !

OK~  I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to experience what Country Bobs has to offer in the line of sauces!  Wow, it's some good tasting stuff!  Now, some of you know, I am not a fancy cook by any means.

A homemade burger, with some onion rings, and some tangy Country Bobs All Purpose Sauce, made a pretty darn good burger!  Fairly simple, anyone can enjoy something like this!  Yesterday we had friend chicken with it- my boys like to throw barbecue sauce on their chicken and Country Bobs All Purpose Sauce sure agreed with their taste buds!

It was in 1968 when Country Bobs began experimenting with different, tasty sauces.  In 1982, Country Bobs became what it is known today.  You can find this fancy all purpose sauce, along with other tangy sauces in stores near you.  Through Country Bobs web site, you can locate a store near you that handles these products.  The recipes are plentiful and you will taste the "love" that goes into each bottle of sauce that is made just for you!

Treat yourself, go online and check out Country Bobs .  In the upper right hand corner, there is a little box that you can click on to give your family the opportunity to try Country Bobs!  My family enjoyed Country Bobs All Purpose Sauce and I'm sure yours will too!  From hats, to recipes, to unique salt seasonings;  Country Bobs will find your dinner table to be pleasing to your taste buds, as it was to ours. What are you waiting for?  Head on over to Country Bobs and find something to "wow" your dinner table! After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

I did receive two complimentary bottles of All Purpose Sauce for review purposes.  The opinions expressed here are mine, and not the opinion of anyone else.  I did not receive any compensation/payment for posting this post.

Privacy Act/Forms in the Medial Field~Scares the Begeezeese out of this Mom!

OK~  I was on a mission today, to collect my medical records from 5 different medical offices.  Sounds fairly simple, right?  Well, it actually was.  But, I truly question how all of this works.  Yesterday I called these offices to ask them if they could have my records ready for this afternoon- they kindly said they sure would.  Lesson learned here:  At 1 out of 5 offices - I was asked for my identification.   And it just so happens that the one that asked me for my identification had prepared medical records for me that belonged to someone else!  I kindly obliged and said I would stop back later and pick MY MEDICAL RECORDS  up.

I am now thinking about this.  Do you know how easy it would be someone to steal your identity through your medical records?  From my personal experience today, I would say it is fairly easy.  All someone would have had to do is sign your name on the form and date the form, which I did.  I thanked the gentleman that asked me for my identification- he was the ONLY one that did.  I'm thinking there needs to be some new thinking on all of these supposedly "PRIVACY" papers that we have to sign at our Doctor offices.  How about documentation of some sort of identification if your medical records are picked up by the patient?  I suppose there's probably some sort of privacy violation if they would have requested a copy of my identification (Driver's License)- I would not have objected,  as this would be a deterrent for someone wanting to steal my Medical Records.  To the best of my knowledge, my medical records are mine, and not anybody else's!  My mind is racing.....UGGHHHH....After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

Best Friends!

OK~ Just trying to think of warmer weather.  This was taken in Rocky Mountain National Park on the trail from Bear Lake to the Fern Lake Trailhead.  A beautiful hike and two young boys chatting away about their experience!  After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

Another partial snow day~this Mom is ticked!

OK~ Here we go again! Mason City Community School District will be dismissing classes two hours early. Earlier in the day I arose to a woman talking about 40+mph winds with an inch or two of snow in the forecast for our area. This was a lady from the National Weather Service, speaking on KGLO News this morning. These people from the National Weather Service are usually pretty good at forecasting the actual day's weather. Right after her report, several schools were delaying classes due to the impending weather. These that had originally delayed classes, did cancel. The morning goes on, snow flurries start to fly- the winds pick up and by noon- We have 0 visibility. Garrett is scheduled to be released from school at 1:18 p.m.- 2hour early out. Here's where the fun begins: Garrett does not hear Bus #2 announced. I guess all the bus kids gather in the Commons area to listen for their bus to be called. Garrett misses the bus. Therefore, Mom and Dad have to travel to town to get him. A teenager missing the bus is something that we, as parents, just learn to deal with. You say, "Ugghhh..!" Get in the car and go get him.

Well, we were in a 4 wheel drive pickup- and less than 1/2 mile from our home, 0 visibility and bucking snow drifts! We ventured down the gravel road, very slow. Came to the highway- managed to turn onto it- after traveling one mile and meeting several cars on the wrong side of the road- we had to figure out how to get back home ourselves. I then call the Transportation Director who reports that busses are out and having no problems- I'm thinking- You people don't get it. We have a blizzard warning, car accidents with vehicles literally piled on each other- and you are sending school busses out! Hello!!!! We had a difficult time getting back home- and we were just 2 miles from home~not 10!

I am happy to report that Todd & I made it back home safely. Garrett is in town, staying with a friend. His friend's Mother was kind enough to say she would wash his clothes if necessary, as these winds are with us until midnight! I wish our school district, would just for once, consider the safety of the few of us that reside in the country. We pay property taxes, try to follow the school rules, and are actively involved in our kids' education. But, when it comes to these types of issues- our kids get the brunt of it! There is a safer day to have school!

Maybe next time (Just maybe) a wise decision will be made in regards to weather and school dismissal. This is not the first time these types of incidents have happened and I'm ready for a little bit of respect! Oh, and another thing I don't get- running the busses on snow plowed roads only- that's a no brainer- you don't have school if the plows haven't went! Consider the safety of ALL kids and employees in the school district!

Wally~ You make our lives INTERESTING!!!!

OK~ Here is the guilty party.  This is the "beautiful" dog that played in motor oil while outside.  This is the guilty party that "I" inadvertently let "in" the house all covered in motor oil.  I then left the house and returned to lots of black marks on the carpet.  Thanks to Dawn Dishwashing soap, carpet cleaner, a heavy duty carpet cleaning machine, and a willing husband to run the machine- our carpet is now clean! But, oh my, the process was not pretty.  Now look at this innocent looking dog- How could he make anyone upset?  I'm looking at all of the green in this picture and thinking- Spring, you can't come soon enough!  Wally keeps us in check and reminds us how lucky we are that someone dumped him off in our neighborhood.  I just don't get it- How can anyone just dump a dog out in the country? After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

January 22, 2010~ Let's try this day again!

OK~  Here's my day- Can I declare a "DO-OVER?"Roll out of bed, and I mean, literally rolled out of bed today.  Make sure Garrett is up~God forbid that "Clocky" should do his job!  7:00 a.m. Garrett walks down the stairs and states, "I have homework to do in the shop!"  I'm thinking, "What?  The bus comes at 7:10 a.m."  OK, Garrett heads out to work on whatever- something he never produced!  He comes in, heads upstairs to throw on some different clothes.  I am now running late, as I have an MRI scheduled at 8:30 a.m.  On the way out the door, Wally wants in.  Of course, I let him in! (MISTAKE)

I drop Garrett off at school, head over for my MRI.  I am told (AGAIN) that I am the perfect MRI patient.  I guess most people move around a lot.  I lay still- figuring that this is the quickest way to get out of here! I go home- walk in the house.  There are dark spots all over the carpet in several areas.  Wally stinks like oil, as well as our carpet.  I send him outside and ponder what the look on Todd's face will be when he arises for the day.

Todd arises and has to scrub two rooms of carpet with the handy dandy carpet scrubber!  My phone rings and I am told I have scar tissue and my Dr. will gladly refer me to a neurosurgeon- UGGHHH...
Todd and I head uptown to get some lunch, get groceries and by this time I am BEAT!  We arrive home to a phone call from Garrett, "Mom, can you pick me up?"  I'm thinking, the bus leaves in 2 minutes, he has now missed it.  He informs me that the Math teacher is having him stay after school to scrape the omelet out of his Math book! What, an omelet, go figure!  I don't even think I wanna know the story on this one!  I'm now thinking, can I please wake up on the other side of the bed and start over!  After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

PINK EYE~CONJUNCTIVITIS~Whatever you call it!

OK~ Blaine wakes up this morning- eye stuck shut and oozing.........YUCK!!!!  Great news, the Broers household has an 18 year old with pink eye!  Who would have ever imagined with a 14 year old and 18 year old boy in the house we would be dealing with this.  I remember the days when they were little, "Mrs. Broers, this is the nurse at Hoover Elementary, one of your boys is in the office.  He has pink eye and needs to go home."  Well, here we are many moons later..........A visit to the eye Dr., who provided him with excellent service, one miserable young adult, and a Mom praying she does NOT get it!  I did contract this yucky stuff when I was in my 20's.  I remember saying that I did not wish it on my worst enemy!  Well, let's see what fun we can have tomorrow at the Broers household.  After All, It's All, In a Mom's Day, Right?

Teenage brothers~ What more can I say?

OK~ Our 14 year old got out of school a little early today and needed a ride home.  So, I figured it would not be any problem for his 18 year old brother to pick him up.  AMAZING~ everyone was agreeable to this.  I had prepared myself for my cell phone to be ringing off of the ringer during the ride home.  Any other time I have had to politely ask our older son to give Garrett a ride, my cell phone was ringing like crazy.  Garrett would comment:  "He's driving too fast!"  "He's turning the corners crazy, Mom!"  "Mom, he's talking on his cell phone (I'm thinking, GRRRR)."  "He's NEVER picking me up again!"  Well, this Mom thinks there now is hope.  Both boys got a long, even cooked a pizza together when they got home, and DID NOT call their Mom and drive her crazy!  After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

Dad reads?

OK~ A comment for thought.

Garrett: " Mom, What''s wrong with Dad?"
Me:  "What are you talking about?"
Garrett:  "Why is Dad reading a book?"

Trying to find the Beauty in Winter~ Might have found it!

OK~ Most of you know I do not like Winter!  But, I seemed to have found some beauty in all of this.  I saw this out my window around 9:00 a.m. today.  It is hard to believe that in approximately four months this tree will be green again!  Just one of God's miracles- not sure how he does it, but he does!  After All, It's All In A Mom's Day, Right?

A Teen & His Belly!

OK~ What's a Mom to do?  Garrett is done with school at 10:05 a.m. today due to Semester tests.  Sounds like a good idea to run into town to retrieve him.  He would have had a long wait, as I saw the bus on the road around 1:25 p.m.  Here's our conversation:

Garrett:  "I'm Hungry"
Me:  "So"
Garrett: "You DON'T ever feed me"
Me:  "We feed you!"
Garrett:  "The school doesn't feed us either.  I guess if I would have stayed and waited for the bus I could have had A, B & C lunch!"
Me:  "I'll swing through Taco Johns"

I think to myself- 10 minute wait, as it is 10:20 a.m., lunch starts at 10:30 a.m.  We were first in line for lunch.

Me:  "And your order is?"
Garrett:  Shouting to the order thing "5 Soft Shell Tacos (meat and lettuce only), Large Potato Oles and a Pepsi"
Me:  "You will eat all of that?"
Garrett:  "Sure!"
Lady that works at Taco Johns:  "Your total is $11.48!"
Me:  "GULP"

We proceed ahead to the window to pay and pick up all of that food!  Let me tell ya- this Mom would be broke if I had to take this 14 year old boy out to lunch every day at Taco John's!  After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

BTW- Garrett ate EVERYTHING!!!!!!

I did not receive any food or money to post this.  My post is based strictly on my opinion and nobody elses.

Is there a holiday in February?

OK~ I'm looking at the calendar and Valentine's Day is coming in Feburary.  I hate to admit this.  I always saw it as a chore when my boys had those cards to address when they were in Elementary School.  I know- slap me silly- naughty Mom!  According to a report from USA Today , in 2009, Americans spent 14.7 billion on Valentine's Day.  My parents usually treated Valentine's Day like any other day, so maybe that's where I developed this love/hate relationship, in regards to February 14th.  Are all of those "things" really necessary?  Kind of reminds me of Christmas, are all of those "things" really necessary?  Anyway, this Mom will treat  February 14th like any other day.  Maybe I should go out and spend lots of money on my family, but I don't have the money to spend on another "Christmas."

The stores are bursting with all sorts of toys, balloons, flowers, etc.............Personally, I would like to receive some flowers, as a surprise, not on a holiday on the calendar. And I do believe that my teenage sons would like a little surprise when it's not expected!  What are your thoughts?  Maybe I'm just a Grinch when it comes to Valentine's Day and need to loosen up a bit!  After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

Lady, you need bi-focals!

OK~ I know I can't read things up very close.  About four years ago, yep- Four years ago my eye Dr. told me I would be looking at bifocals in my near future.  Low and behold, I made it four years.  Here's how the conversation went:

Eye Dr:  How are you seeing?
Me:  OK
Eye Dr:  Are you able to read things close up, like a book?
Me: Ummmmmm......I think so
Eye Dr:  And what does that mean.
Me:  OK- that means I can't read things close up.
Eye Dr:  Let's take a look and see how things are.
Me: OK

Well, things were NOT ok.  You know that little thing they make you read that kind of turns- I read a mish mash of letters, not words which were printed.  He managed to skirt around the dreaded word bi-focals, he said he would fit me in some multi-focal contact lenses.  I am trying them and I have to say I do like them!  On another note, I honestly think these multi-focal contact lenses are just a nice way of saying, "Lady, you need bi-focals!"  After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

I'm trying to find the beauty in all of this!

OK~ This is today, at 3:45 p.m. CST.  The actual air temperature looks like 0!  The entryway temperature is almost 60.  Considering there is no heat in that room, it's looking pretty darn good today!  I know most people that reside in the South will think 0 is very cold.  But, you know what?  The winds are fairly calm and in the sun today, it actually feels kind of nice.  Of course, you must be sporting a winter coat, hat, gloves, boots, etc....But, that is all part of winter, right?

This is the view from my entryway.  Kind of pretty, don't ya think?  I'm really trying to see the positive in this brutally, cold Winter!  Snow- you can go away now!  The weatherman, crossing my fingers he is right, says maybe lower 30's this coming week.  You know~ we are human, if it's cold, we want it hot.  If it's hot, we want it cold.  I try very hard not to complain in the Summer when it is hot, as I know how I despise the cold in the Winter!  After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

Slipper solution!

OK~ My slippers are beyond help!  Thanks to my sister-in-law, Terri, who gave me these wear around the house socks for Christmas, my feet are now happy.  My slippers were beyond help~they smelled really, really bad.  I do believe it is a sign of aging when one begins to sprinkle powder and baking soda in their footwear!  After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

Who's your favorite Disney character?

OK~Thinking back to several of our Disney vacations, and anything is warmer than Iowa right now!  I can recall being at Disney when the hotel pools were closed, as well as the water parks, due to the extreme temperatures.  I rummaged through some photos and found this one of Garrett, from March of 2007- breakfast at The Crystal Palace with Pooh and friends!  Tigger rocked the place.  Garrett's favorite Disney character is Tigger, who is yours?  We have observed Tigger hopping in many interesting places while at EPCOT and The Magic Kingdom as well.  A fun photo to stumble upon.  After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

A boy and his car-WHAT??????

OK~ What?  Mom, My car won't start!  Blaine, USE the jumper cables.  It's worth a try!  Dad got those out for him and voila- car started!  About six hours later, I sent him a text message:

Me:  Car start ok after work?
Blaine:  Yeah, thanks for the concern........

How should a Mom take that message?  Oh yeah, coats, hats, and gloves are also obviously over rated.  The high temp for the day did not get above zero!  After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

This Is How I Know That It Is Just Too Darn Cold!

OK~ This Mom is tired of the arctic zone~ Need I say more?  The floor in our entryway is now cracking and breaking, due to the excessive cold.  And all of that, what appears to be pretty blue, is all of the icing on our screen door!  If you are thinking of relocating to the Mid-West~ Pack up your parkas, long underwear, gloves, and ear muffs- you WILL need them!  I did not need a thermometer to tell me that it was minus 17 degrees this morning, a whopping 6 degrees warmer than yesterday morning!  All this Mom needed was a peek right inside the entryway this morning!  After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

Bye Bye Christmas~ Hello 2010!

OK~ The tree was up for a short time, but it did arise! The tree with the stockings, Santa hats and Christmas tree skirt are packed away until Christmas 2010! Bye, Bye Christmas, see you in December 2010. Maybe my tree will arise a little earlier next year- wishful thinking on my part. Now, to keep the sun room looking this clean- more wishful thinking on my part. I am so ready for a New Year- why? I'm not sure. I did have the opportunity to reunite with several friends/classmates from years past- So much fun! Blaine graduated from high school and Garrett entered high school. So much to be thankful for- but, I guess you know you are getting older when you comment on New Years Eve- My goal is to not have any surgeries this coming year! Time will tell.

So thankful for family and great friends! And this crazy blog- I'm enjoying every minute of it. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I would have more than 800 hits on this crazy thing in one month! Facebook has been fun and Twitter- Wow~ I've met some really great people online this year! After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?
