A Wake Up Call

OK~ Today, January 8, 2011, will go down in history as a sad day.  It does not matter which side of the political aisle you are on....but the fact is clear- our country is in disarray!  Three things that we all need to remember:

  • There is never a place for violence in our society-ANYWHERE- it's not acceptable
  • Respect needs to be found......the killing of a judge, the wounding of an elected official-Where is the respect in all of this?
  • Accepting people for who they are...It's plain and simple through this Mom's eyes.  Everyone is a human being and deserves to be treated as one.
I live in Iowa, which some think is  immune to all of this~ we are not!  Just the other day, right across our border, in Nebraska, a 17 year old went on a wild rampage in a school....And a few months ago, a young man, from Minnesota came to Iowa and took the lives of two women working in convenience stores all within an hour of where I live. Another wake-up call for all of us~ Hug your kids, live life to the fullest...and somedays I must ask myself, "Do I really live in the United States, or somewhere else?"  These acts of violence make this Mom a little edgy.  Our country needs help, people need help~ If each one of us can reach out and positively impact the lives of someone, maybe we can make a difference.  A big job that's for sure!

Just my ramblings of the tragedy in Tucson, Arizona............After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

  1. As much as you and I are against these acts of horrific violence there are groups of people that are for it, what makes them tick?, How the heck do they get these feelings where they need to harm others?

Life is so fragile just on its own we do not need help to end peoples lives sooner.

  2. Completely agreed! Thanks for posting! :)

I always love feedback on my blog!
