FIVE Reasons Why Iowa Is Good To Call Home

OK~ Statistics are showing that Iowa and the Mid-West are losing people left and right. I look down the road that I live on, and years ago, there was more than one other homestead.....several have been pushed into a pile. The land is now used for farmland, which Iowa prides itself on. But the people, where are our people going? We could debate this issue for hours and hours...but we are not going to go there!  So, I've compiled a list of why Iowa is a good place to call home.....

  • The stop lights are cycled in my local town- and I can sit at one with maybe 10 cars around me.
  • The air is crisp and clean
  • Neighbors know each other
  • I can see for miles around me~ I look out my window and I can seriously see for miles on a clear, sunny day!
  • The quiet of the outdoors
Just the other day, my 15 year old son commented that he thought Iowa was a good place to live. I asked him why.  His response was, "Well Mom, in Iowa we all know each other." An interesting perspective from a 15 year old Iowa teenager. He also commented that it was fun to throw rocks in the little creek that flows by our house.

I do wonder how many boys have missed out on the opportunity of simply throwing rocks into water. Seems like a simple activity, but one that many kids in today's crazy world never experience. During the many years that I accompanied boys to Cub Scout/Boy Scout Camps I always thought it was so nice to see boys outside, enjoying the great outdoors. Many boys commented that they never knew that there were so many cool things to do outside. Iowa has a lot to offer~Winter may be long~ but those nice quiet evenings in the six months that are to come will be so appreciated! After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

  1. Sounds like fun!

I LOVE Texas, but it's all I've known. My husband and I would love to buy 5 (or more acres) and build a home. I imagine that's what it is like in Iowa? Secluded, but not?

  2. I have lived in Iowa almost my entire life, and there is no place I would rather live. I hope to be here the rest of my life.

  3. I have heard awesome things about Iowa sounds like a great peaceful place to raise kids.I often think about moving somewhere country like away from this crazy city I live in. Maybe I will take a vacation sometime in Iowa and check it out.

I always love feedback on my blog!
