OK~ I'm hearing and seeing lots of chatter about the upcoming decisions that parents are going to have to make. With a new school year quickly approaching, there are going to be families faced with many decisions. So, what should a parent do when their child wants to be in every single extra curricular activity tossed their child's way? My opinion, kids need to make choices. Life is all about choices- sometimes they are the right choices and often times we learn from these choices.
I do think it is good for kids to have a sense of belonging to a group outside of the school setting, and it's a great experience for the whole family when kids are allowed to show their passion for something. From sports, to music, to church activities...there are an array of activities for our young people today. But, it's ultimately up to the parents to set limits. From the family finances, to the fund-raising efforts, to the time involved as a family~ it's important to get a grasp of the whole picture before kids set off to sign on the dotted line for an extra curricular activity. We live and learn, as that is what makes our world go round. After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?
