The Membership At The Gym.....

OK~ I am a regular attendee at my local YMCA...all year long! Do I always WANT to go?  NO~ but I know that I need to keep flexible and keep my muscles in check. I've been wondering.....If you pay for a monthly membership at your local gym...How many times a month do you have to use it to consider it worth the purchase? My hubby and I go 5-6 days a week, so we feel like we easily get our $62.00 a month out of it. And since it's the YMCA, we also have access to a therapy pool, swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room, and more.

What's intrigued me all summer long....Do people continue to pay the monthly membership and not go? As the attendance has not picked up, once it dropped off in May, we've had our choice of machines for almost five months now...No complaints from this Mom, but it makes me wonder where everyone went? January-March was an absolute zoo in that place! And yes, that was during the time that I observed to women fighting over an elliptical machine~ I know, childish, right? Maybe everyone just does their exercise outside, but we kind of like to do both.......I'm thinking we must be the strange ones of the bunch!

And just the other day another regular attendee commented to us on how great we looked! He commented that we looked so much better than when we started going there regularly~ over 18 months ago....Geeshhheee...Did we look that bad?  He gave Todd & I great conversation as we left the YMCA that day.

Oh well.....I know it's what we need to do, so we will keep going! After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

  1. That is great you go to the Y so much. I myself like to be outside and walk walk walk. I do have an elliptical but I would rather be outside. As for weights for muscles I should get my butt in one to work on that. The walking has helped me quite a bit to get where I want to be. I think most peeps in the Summer like to do other activities then be in the gym. But if I had a membership at the Y I would go just to enjoy the pool and sauna haha.   2. I admit- I am one of those people who basically took the summer "off" from the gym! No-- I really didn't get my moneys worth June thru mid-September-ha. Somehow it just seems so wrong to be on the treadmill when I can be outside.

    Oh well- I'm back at the Y now-- and as we speak- I am feeling the pain from my workout last night! Think good karma for me as I continue to re-commit to the real gym this Fall/Winter. :)
