Mom........You know that tone, don't you?

OK~ Every Mom knows what "Mom" means when it has that certain tone to it....This is what I was handed~

This is what I handed him back~
I think I did pretty good, don't you?  Not only do I repair his eye glasses- I wash his clothes, cook his meals, listen to him complain about school, and refuse to stock up on AMP .........I think the 15 year old in this house has it pretty darn good~ After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

This Mom Is Not Stocking Up On Amp

OK~ The conversation goes like this.  Todd, Garrett & I are in the car on the way to the YMCA.

Garrett: "Mom, you need to buy me energy drinks!"

Me:  "That Red Bull Stuff?"

Garrett:  "No, I mean AMP.  You know I am much more calm when I drink that!"

Me:  "No, I don't think so."

Garrett:  "You need to keep it stocked at home so I don't have to buy it at the store."

Todd: "I don't think so."

Me:   " I agree with your Dad!"

Garrett:  "I still think you should keep the cupboards stocked with it!"

Todd & I same time:  "Not happening.....Question answered!"

School Conferences ~Why you should attend

OK~ We have school conferences coming up again on Monday evening. I will go, as I usually do. But, I see that when most kids get to high school...the attendance at school conferences gets really, really low. I honestly hope that these parents are all in touch with their child's teachers and know what is going on. On the other hand, I also see it as a time to connect, in person, with the people that are with my son on a daily basis during the school year. I also see it as a form of respect. These teachers work very hard, day in and day out~ it seems to be a simple way to show my appreciation of what they do for my son. I realize that things come up and it's not always feasible to attend....But, for your child's sake and out of respect for your child's teacher....Will you make a conscientious effort to attend the next Parent/ Teacher conference that your child's school offers?

With our schools in the news on a daily basis, it's more important than ever for all of us to step up to the plate. It's time for reform in our education system....Our kids deserve so much better! What's so stunning to me is that schools all across the United States are all so different. I simply do not buy into the statement, "That school does so bad because of the poverty level." This tells this Mom that the Administrators and teachers need to take a look at how they are working with these kids and what they can do to help them be successful. After all, these people are educators....paid good money to go to college.....they should have received an education that geared them towards today's kids! Our schools in Iowa are OK, but there is much work to be done. So many more young people should be graduating and not ending up on the streets. Our local district has an 87.5% graduation rate....fairly good...but there is work to be done!

I wish the bullying would end in our schools, but until society stops accepting it in the workplace....it's gonna be around a while. I'm thankful my youngest son is in 10th Grade and there is light at the end of the tunnel.  Through many requested meetings with teachers, administrators....my 10th Grader is gonna do just fine. But, this Mom is also one of the strongest advocates he will ever have! So, will you attend your child's school conference~ you know, it will make a difference if you do! After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

Don't Blink

OK~ I spent the day with my soon to be 20 year old son. Where, oh where have those years went~ I must have blinked too much! We chatted about all of the things we did when he was little. So thankful that we took the time to do all the many things we have done with him. Oh, and I'm sure there are many more fun times to come! But, it's so fun to see him smile so big when we talked about all of the road trips, family chaos, and the brotherly love! It's no secret that our two boys really don't get along that well. I do think as they are getting older, they are beginning to reconnect.

Fun times...play time....Gotta love it~ then he grows up~ I know that many years have passed when he says to me, "Mom, you are every used car salesman's nightmare!"

I recall the day we came home from the hospital with a newborn baby...My room mate said to me, "Enjoy him while he's little!" I thought to myself, "What does she know?" Yeah...turns out she knew what she was talking about. After all, she had just given birth to her third child, and I had my first born child~ a true blessing from God, in my arms~and he's now 19 3/4+! Yikes...so that in turn means that this Mom has lots of gray hair, funny looking feet, and the feeling of "old!" Just my observations, as we age our hair does turn gray (Thank God for hair color), feet look different(especially the toenails) and that feeling of tired before the 10 o'clock news hits the air! My advice to all Mom's out there~ Don't Blink!  After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

Schools, Construction AND Money

OK~ I just returned home from a PTO Meeting for my son's school. My mind began to wander as I drove home. The campus is currently under major construction, and will be for three more years to come. Due to the fact that I have an almost 20 year old and a 10th Grader, my children will not be impacted hugely through this process. But, for those people that have 5th-8th Graders, it's gonna be one heck of a ride for their families. These kids will be moving back and forth in buildings, due to the construction process. And we all know how crazy those tween years are and then throw in some unsettling adventures at school....I'm thankful I do not have a child in that age group right now!

And we currently have the discussion going on in the Iowa State Capitol, in regards to state funding for Pre-School. It looks as though the state of Iowa is on its way to cutting the funding for this program. Personally, I feel that parents need to take some responsibility when it comes to Pre-School and be part of the process of getting their kids ready for school. And yes, I do mean, that it may cost parents some money to do this.We paid for Pre-School for our boys and we never considered someone else paying that monthly fee. For those kids that need special services, they will still be there. After all, one of our sons worked with our AEA when he was in Pre-School. It begins with parenting~ Be an advocate for your child and know what their rights are. All kids will continue to receive an education in the state of Iowa, cutting the funding to a state funded Pre-School will not stop the education process.  In the grand scheme of things, it all begins at home!

I'm not sure about the number of kids in this 7-12 complex, but I'm thinking it's around 1500+ kids and there were 2 Administrators at this PTO meeting tonight and 15 parents. Become involved in your kids' education and your whole family will benefit. I do realize it's not possible or every parent to attend every meeting, but do make an effort to be involved in your school. If you don't participate....I really don't see that you have any reason to complain~ Kind of like the motto that I have:  If I don't vote, I can't complain! And this new construction~ I think it'll be nice...But again, in the grand scheme of things a new building won't make a successful school~ The people inside the building will determine how successful it is! After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

Frostbite~ A Hazard of an Iowa Winter

OK~ Frost bite has struck at our house this winter. It's not a pretty sight and by no means any fun! On one of those really, really cold days in December, our 15 year old son got frostbite on several toes. Now the crazy thing about this is that he had on boots and heavy socks. And "they" do say that people get frostbite and never realize they have it. On that cold, winter day he was outside in a building working on an engine. A little bit of heat blowing on he and his Dad, but time got away from them. They came into the house and Garrett never, ever complained about his feet! About a week later several toes started turning purple and blistery. I thought to myself, "I think I've read somewhere that Epsom salts are good for feet in this condition!" So, I encouraged him to soak his frostbitten feet ( I did not know they were frost bitten at the time) in hot water with the Epsom salt! Bad, bad, bad! Hot water is not good for frost bitten feet.

So, a few days later, I thought it might be frost bite. I called the Doctor office and made an appointment for later that same day. I then googled frost bite, and sure enough his feet looked just like the pictures that showed up on the google search. He would never let me take a picture of them. His toes are dark purple and blistery....they still are and we are over a month out from the incident. The solution to all of this: Time! Interesting enough that the Doctor googled frostbite while we were in his office and showed me the same pictures that I had looked at.

We can be thankful his feet are not black and he was not out any longer than he was. His toes will be sensitive to the cold, forever!  My advice when the temps are hovering around 0 degrees, or even a windchill below 0~ stay indoors!  In Iowa, it's hard to stay indoors in the Winter...Cabin fever sets in and we all want to get out. If you do venture out, do not stay out very long when it's cold outside. Be safe, dress warm and know that Spring is coming!  After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

Another Fine Conversation.......

OK~ I hear the bits and pieces of this fine conversation-

Garrett:  Dad, I know you'd take me there?

Dad:  Where?

Garrett:  You'd take me to the vet instead of the Dr. office!

Dad:  I might.

I realize that my teenage boys are like animals at times, but do they really think things are that bad? After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

Wild Adventures ~ Valdosta, Georgia ~An Amusement Park Your Family Will Love

OK~ I am so excited to be sharing information about Wild Adventures Theme Park located in Valdosta, Georgia. Our family has visited this theme park several different times in the last ten years. It's one of those little secrets that I don't think many families in the Mid-West know about. Over the course of the next couple months, I am going to share tons of information with you about this awesome theme park in southern Georgia. The size of 155 football fields, it is the area's number one attraction! Major roller coasters, hundreds of animals, and home to the region's largest water park. And the other cool thing....2011 is bringing new educational programs to the park throughout the upcoming season!

One of the thrill rides: Hangman ~ 1 Min. 30 Seconds!  60-70 Mph~ Just one of the attractions that your teens will enjoy at Wild Adventures Theme Park!

The Crazy Bus~ The bus and wheels go round and round~ A ride for the whole family! Must be 32" to ride!

For those of you that are planning your Spring Break get away and driving!  I must say~ Wild Adventures Theme Park will break up your drive and get the family out of the car for a fun filled day! You cannot see this theme park from I-75, but there are numerous signs pointing you in the right direction. This park is also one of the cleanest theme parks that I have been in. Time to get planning~Spring Break or Summer.....Wild Adventures Theme Park will not disappoint, only provide you and your family hours of pure fun!  An adventure will await you unlike any other~ After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

Mid-West Friends~ Casey's Pizza Coupons

OK~ I found this find today.  Casey's General Store is like my go to place!  They have convenient locations in my local town and are easy to get in and out of.  Great customer service...and I really enjoy their breakfast pizza!  Here's my find:  Hop on over to Facebook and "like" Casey's General Store and you can print out a couple useful pizza coupons. The coupons are good through Feb. 28, 2011, although I'm not sure how long they will be available to print!  Pizza, donuts, soda, candy, chips, bread.....They have it all!  And their gas prices are usually very competitive as well!  After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

Winter Should End Now

OK~ I'm really not liking this season called Winter. 3 degrees outside, two flat tires, and our cats won't even come out of a building. That's how this Mom knows that it's time for Spring to start arriving any day now. With lots of snow on the ground and more to come~seriously, someone remove me from this Arctic Zone! I am tired of the cold....Well, where's the positive in all of this? The plus side- I know exactly where Garrett is- school & home. He's not venturing out, as his frost bitten toes are still healing. And I do know that he is eating well, not missing a meal! And in just a couple weeks, we will no longer have two teenagers in the house, only one!  Blaine will be an official young man, 20 years young!  Hard to believe....Where did those 20 years go? The year he was born...February was nice and March was nasty!  There is hope....those lilac bushes will be blooming before I know it (fingers crossed)! Another sign winter needs to go- I know it's too cold when I can see my breath in the bathroom upstairs.....Gotta love an old Iowa farm house in the Winter! I'm Hungry

Pizza Casserole

OK~ Most of you know that I cannot cook.  I made one of my Mom's famous recipes for supper. Here it is. If I can make this, anybody can!

Here's what you need~

4 cups cooked macaroni
1 1/2 lbs. cooked hamburger
Pepperoni Slices
1 10 oz. Jar Ragu Traditional Spaghetti Sauce
1/2 cup water
2 cups Mozzarella Cheese
1/2 a diced onion
garlic powder
Italian Seasoning

Cook up the macaroni. Brown the Hamburger. Toss the sauce with the seasonings and onions. Pour all of these ingredients into a 9x13 baking dish, in no particular order! My family really likes pepperoni, so I mix pepperoni slices in with the macaroni, as well as on top of the cheese.  350 degrees for one hour. Supper is served! E-Reader Sales are Soaring

OK~ I'm reading a news story today on how E-Readers sales are soaring. I know several people who have them. I received a Nook for Christmas and I have to say I really like it. I thought I would miss the feel of a book in my hand. I can't say that I miss that feeling, I'm kind of liking this thing called Nook! When my boys were younger I didn't read any books, just never found the time. Within the past three years, I took up reading again. I have books, books, books!  Now with this Nook, I'm sure I will still have books around, but nothing like I had before this Nook came into my life.

If you have an E-reader are you using it and do you like it?  Do you plan to upload e-books, magazines, newspapers, etc....What will you read on your E-reader?  The process of downloading a book was fairly simple....I consider it worked, since I am reading a book on my Nook! Wow, I kind of like that~ A book on my Nook! This seems to be another way for many of us to un-clutter our lives. Do you feel like you have stuff? I know that I feel that way every day. All of this stuff! Now this stuff can all go right into my Nook.

The downside to all of this...People are losing their jobs in the print industry. I pray that new opportunities and jobs come their way! Our world is constantly changing and technology is moving so fast, it's hard to keep up!  Just this Mom's ramblings today......After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

The Traveling Germs

OK~ I really, really despise this time of year... It's cold right down to my bones and the germs! Yep, that crazy conjunctivitis one has taken grips of our household.  I have used bleach, Lysol, hand sanitizer, soap and more soap.  All it took was one little visit to a Dr. office and that germ found my youngest son. (Of course I don't know for sure that's where it came from, but makes sense to this Mom). We had a simple visit for frost bitten toes and voila~ a few days later we have pink eye! We had not visited the boys' Doctor for illness in over a year. Now today, my soon to be 20 year old son has it! The race is on- Keep it away from me!  I do not want pink eye....I have had it and I can honestly say it is something I don't wish upon my worst enemy. It's really, really nasty stuff!  The germs~ They keep a traveling and I really want them to head out of the door of this house! Oh, and I thought it was difficult to put eye drops in a babies eye when they have pink eye.......it took me a few times to tell my 6'2", 15 year old son to have a chair when we did the drops. It was interesting reaching up there~ I'm 5'9" ( and shrinking), glad I got smart!  Right now I'm gonna hang tight and pray that neither I nor my husband wake up with pink eyes tomorrow morning~ On the upside, these traveling germs have things a little cleaner around here~After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

Cats, Bus Drivers to School~ It's all Connected

OK~ I thought today was going really, really well.  After all, I had an eye doctor appointment and nothing had changed. My current script for my multi-focal contact lenses was just fine. Fast forward about five hours. I managed to have a mishap with one of our farm cats. One of my favorite. This kitty is resting peacefully in kitty heaven.

Garrett gets home from school, sends me a text message. "Did you hear about Jim?" Well, I knew where that was going.  Jim was his bus driver that had been ill. Jim passed away. Let me tell you a little bit about Jim-  This wonderful bus driver was one of the few people through the years, within our local school system that took the time to really get to know Garrett. I know teachers are busy, have hundreds of kids to work with, but many just don't take the time to build a relationship with the kids. He was a man that encouraged and believed in Garrett. He showed interest in Garrett's activities. They chatted about hunting, trap shooting, and just life in general. I was so pleased to see him show up this August when school rolled around as our bus driver- since he had retired. He told me he just couldn't stay away from all of "his" kids!

My wish is that every child could meet someone like Jim within their school system. Unfortunately, many will not. One of my older son's teachers told me, "You know, he was quiet, never said much." I replied "And how did you make a connection with my son?" Guess what? She was quiet pretty darn fast.  My point being....Every child needs positive relationship building role models in their lives- it does make a difference! On those really dark days of Middle School, I know Jim believed in Garrett! There was a connection...From the bus drivers to the cafeteria workers in our school systems, relationships are being built.

So, if you work in a school or work with kids, know that you are making a difference! Kids are looking up to you and your connection may be what keeps them in school. Our local school district had a graduation rate of 87.5% last year, there is work to be done!  It's about relationships and Jim knew how to build those!

Life is full of blessings and our family is so blessed to have known such a wonderful man! Oh, and that orange/white kitty was pretty darn cute too!  Heaven gained a couple of our family favorites today~ After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

The Revolving Door At The Dr. Office

OK~ My teens have not had Doctor visits for more than a year and a half~ up until last week!  I took Garrett to the Dr. last Wed. and while we were waiting I stressed to him to use hand sanitizer everywhere while at the Dr. office.  Diagnosis:  Frost Bite.  Fast Forward one week~ Monday night Garrett complains of a headache, asks for Tylenol- this is a kid that usually refuses any sort of medicine.  He gets up Tuesday morning, his eyes are red and he's complaining of his head hurting, and the sunlight bothering his eyes.   I'm thinking, "just a bug."  He goes to school...Miserable the whole day.  He gets up this morning~ eyes are definitely still red.  I call the Dr. office to ask what the procedure is for pink eye these days. "Oh, you need to bring him in."  Ok~ We see the Dr.- conjunctivitis (pink eye) which I knew he had.  This is how the conversation goes while in the car leaving the Dr. office.

Garrett:  "Mom, You even made me go to school with this.  She (referring to the Dr.) said this is contagious"
Me:  "Yep." "You should know by now that this Mom does not take you to the Dr. for every little wimper."
Garrett:  "Well, you are a bad Mom this time."
Me: "I guess I can't win. Had I not taken you to the Dr. last week to get your frost bitten toes checked out...We probably wouldn't be dealing with this pink eye!"

The Lysol is going everywhere~ I don't want pink eye and I don't think anybody else in the house does either!  Now, I'm just wondering......What little bug gripped on to us as we left the Dr. office this Wed.- Hopefully we won't find out next Wednesday! I really do not wish to be that family that takes hold of the revolving door at the Dr.'s office~ After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

The Word Sensitive

OK~ As a Mom to teens, the word sensitive really entered our lives once our oldest son was around 10 years old.  It was during this time that the every kid that participates deserves a trophy......every kid gets an award for this, that and everything in between. Once I realized this was happening, I can honestly say I avoided the "kid" birthday parties.  I never wanted to have another Mom calling me and saying, "Sara, why wasn't so and so invited?" I did not want to set myself up. Are we too sensitive in our society?  Where does this sensitivity issue stop?  Or does it not stop?

I realize that when I was growing up it was a different time. I had slumber parties and invited my friends, not the whole class. To the best of my knowledge my Mom never received a call from another Mom wondering why her daughter was not included. 4-H was pretty cut and dried. We worked on our projects year round and received ribbons for showing them at the county fair. Then a few months later an awards night was held and everyone did not receive an award. Only one member could be the Outstanding Member of the year, and only one member would receive an Outstanding Leadership award. That was the way it was, one award, one recipient.  In life, not everyone can be #1, not everyone will be the Straight "A" Student, and not everyone will be able to run the mile under 12 minutes!  But, remember it's not OK to address these issues~ if we do, we are not being sensitive to others......

This Mom doesn't get it......The word sensitive is everywhere~ I wish our kids could be kids, teens could be teens, and adults could act like adults!  But due to the sensitive environment we live in, it's best to keep our mouths shut and go on our merry way~ This Mom likes the much simpler days that were~Yep, even in Iowa, the word sensitive is all around~After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

Winter or Spring

OK~ It's January, which in my eyes speaks Winter. I casually strolled through a department store today in Iowa...It's 13 degrees outside with more snow on the way. I noticed shorts, crop pants, capris, tank tops (skimpy), bathing suits, and t-shirts around every corner. I guess if you are planning a vacation to somewhere warm, you will have no problem finding a new wardrobe. I can't even fathom the thought of actually needing a pair of snow boots or mittens, as they are probably extinct right now! Hopefully this household is set in the winter clothing department. I also noticed that St. Patrick's Day decor was also 50% off! It appears that our local stores are gearing up for Spring. I'm all for it~ Spring could arrive any day and this Mom would be happy! A Wake Up Call

OK~ Today, January 8, 2011, will go down in history as a sad day.  It does not matter which side of the political aisle you are on....but the fact is clear- our country is in disarray!  Three things that we all need to remember:

  • There is never a place for violence in our society-ANYWHERE- it's not acceptable
  • Respect needs to be found......the killing of a judge, the wounding of an elected official-Where is the respect in all of this?
  • Accepting people for who they are...It's plain and simple through this Mom's eyes.  Everyone is a human being and deserves to be treated as one.
I live in Iowa, which some think is  immune to all of this~ we are not!  Just the other day, right across our border, in Nebraska, a 17 year old went on a wild rampage in a school....And a few months ago, a young man, from Minnesota came to Iowa and took the lives of two women working in convenience stores all within an hour of where I live. Another wake-up call for all of us~ Hug your kids, live life to the fullest...and somedays I must ask myself, "Do I really live in the United States, or somewhere else?"  These acts of violence make this Mom a little edgy.  Our country needs help, people need help~ If each one of us can reach out and positively impact the lives of someone, maybe we can make a difference.  A big job that's for sure!

Target offers a Sample Spot~ Check it out.....

OK~ I kind of found this link while surfing the internet today. Did you know that on Target's website, there is a place where you can request free samples of different products? It looks like the items change frequently. All of you cat lover's will benefit from the current offering of a free sample of Purina ONE brand cat food SmartBlend. I have ordered my free sample, as I know that at least one of our 18 farm cats will surely enjoy this cat food!

The process was simple. They requested my mailing address, along with my e-mail address. My request was confirmed and I should receive my free sample of cat food in 4-6 weeks. So, if you have a cat......request a sample!  Bookmark the site, as I'm sure there will be more great samples that you could use.

Due to the fact that I'm having issues printing coupons from my desk top computer, I'm thinking this is even a better option!  I'm saving ink and paper~ After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

The Road To A New Pair Of Pajamas

OK~The road to a new pair of pajamas for this Mom was not easy. I had a really fun day shopping with a friend that I am lucky to see once a year. It's a lot of fun to shop the clearance racks once January rolls around. We sorted through the hats, gloves, scarves and then another woman was sharing her great find in the pajama department. So, I'm thinking to myself.  I could really use a new pair of warm pajamas.

I find these......I kind of like them!

For $14.00 (the sign says 70% off), I surely can't go wrong for a total of $14.00.  And of course, they ring up around $30.00.  I pay for them and then start looking at the tags and my receipt. I then tell the woman at the register that these were 70% off. She says, "Oh, let me adjust that!" Ok, she refunds me the difference. Then my friend and I ventured back to the signage in the department which stated what the discounted prices on the lowest marked down price should be. Guess what? The store still owed me money. I found a woman working at another register and approached her. She commented, "I just want to scream. People don't know how to do anything anymore. Just go away." I stated, "Could you please help me?" Well, after listening to her moan and groan I decided the $4.00 the store owed me was not worth it.

A kind note:  If you work in retail- When a customer has the 70% off sign in their hand (which I did) it's probably a good idea to take a look at what is going on. And another note, if the lowest marked down price is scribbled on the ticket~ How on earth is someone supposed to know how much to ring the item up for? Guess what- I'm not returning to that store for quite some time.

Having met the Alliant Energy meter reader guy in my driveway in my old pajamas; this Mom knew that it was time for some new ones! I won't take a  picture what I was wearing when I met up with him. I was venturing to the mailbox and with winter~ we shouldn't have any traffic! I think he was as stunned to meet me at the end of the driveway as I was to meet up with him.

And these new pj's. Not sure what to think.  My 15 & 19 year old sons have both said to me, "What is that?" I'm gonna keep wearing them, as they are warm and I kind of like them. After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

Winter Break should be over~ But, it's not

OK~ Winter break is still continuing for my 15 year old son.  Here's this Mom's take on when it's time for her son to get back into the school routine.

  • There are 5 cans of Diet Coke sitting next to the PS3 Gaming System
  • Showers....What are they?
  • His Facebook app is running 24/7
  • We are sitting in the same room and I receive a text message, "Bring me McDonald's"
  • He stumbles out of bed around noon
Well, I'm thinking Thursday morning is going to be a huge shock at this house! 6:00 a.m. is going to be brutal. If Garrett's lucky Wally will be trying to wake him up around 6:00 a.m. to head outside.....After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

X-BOX 360 KINECT Review

OK~ Christmas arrived a little early this year when a wonderful package was outside our door from TheOnlineMom. I was fortunate enough to be the winner of an X-Box 360 KINECT at one of her weekly twitter parties. Her website is very informative, as well as her weekly twitter parties are...what can I say?  One of the best around! Always lively conversation and great information when it comes to all of these gadgets that all of us are playing with!

Our family is really enjoying the X-BOX 360 KINECT.  There is one game that does come with the KINECT system, and it's called Adventures. The images are real and you really do feel as though you are floating/flying down a river, sealing leaks in an aquarium, and dodging poles from almost any angle possible.  There are no controllers, your body is the controller! A great invention......A simple way to get the family off of the couch and get the kids moving! Just a couple hours ago I observed my 4 1/2 year old nephew and my 15 year old son sitting on the couch, playing wii golf! With the XBox 360 KINECT, there is no sitting down. If you sit down, it's pretty simple, you're done!

We have purchased the Motion Sports game. This game includes Horseback Riding, Hang Gliding, Soccer, Football, Skiing, and Boxing. The game is fun, but it is very sensitive as to light and recognizing the people that are playing. Be sure to be in a very well lit area and have a little bit of patience. In between each game, you must re register who you are - return player or guest.

I am happy to report that we have not taken out any plants ( none in this house), broken any lamps, or injured anyone!  The XBOX 360 KINECT is awesome!  What I find so cool~ From 4 1/2 years old through adults....everyone is enjoying it.  How cool is it that a 15 year old and a 4 1/2 year old can play the same video game together and both have fun?!

I know many people are wondering if this new technology in the video gaming world is really that cool. Well, this Mom is happy to report that this is really a family friendly video gaming system that the whole family will enjoy.  Personally, this Mom is burned out from all of the shooting video games that her boys all play. It's refreshing to have some happy music in the background, family up moving around, and a little fun competition! After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

*I did win an XBOX 360 KINECT from a Twitter Party.  I did not receive any monetary compensation for this post.  The opinions expressed here are mine, and nobody else's.

I've got an idea for 2011

OK~ Having witnessed more than two Iowa driver's today...I must say- PEOPLE, please do not talk on your cell phone, smoke a cigarette and try to drive a car!  You are a danger to others on the road.  Oh, and how about using a turn signal now and then?  If you happen to be one of these people, PLEASE make a New Year's resolution to improve your driving skills and be more attentive to those around you~ After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?
