One Project Leads To Another

OK~ We are now three weeks into this getting the house ready for Christmas and one project continually leads to another. Here's the latest escapade. One would think the little project of painting the kitchen ceiling would be fairly simple, right? Well, wrong!

This little project led to the emergency replacement of wallaper border. When we moved into our home 8 1/2 years ago I had wanted to remove all the wallpaper. Well, due to the fact that the wallpaper border that was in place had been super glued to the plaster walls, there was no removing it. So, at that time I opted to hang a border over the one that was there. Worked fine, up until we decided to paint the ceilings 8 1/2 years later.

Once we began to remove the tape- the wallpaper border that we had installed 8 1/2 years ago decided to come down. And of course, sections of the wallpaper border that we had also tried to remove 8 1/2 years ago. The biggest problem- Christmas was three days away and how many places still sell wallpaper border?  Well, not many! I do hear wallpaper may be returning- don't know if I will embrace it!

I made a quick trip to town, in panic mode. I ventured to Menards, where we have spent lots of time the past three weeks. Due to the fact that I had not shopped for wallpaper in quite some time, I honestly had no idea what to expect. Well, there were approximately 3 dozen wallpaper borders to choose from. And I have to say, I think I came out quite well.  This is what I found!

Without having a paint sample along or anything to match, I think I did quite well. And I must say, I really, really think I got lucky. I know wallpaper is so out- but with an older home, crooked ceilings and walls, three days until Christmas, and a house that still needs help- this rocks!

And the end product- here ya go!

I'm not sure when our 17 year old son will notice the change. Do you think he will? BTW- It was a country themed border before and did need to go. Now, with two days to go until Christmas, my fingers are crossed that there will be no more incidents like this one.  Looks to be a blessing in disguise! After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?
