Reflections On A Cold January Day In Iowa

OK~ Today is the start of a new semester of high school for the senior in our house, along with a below zero temperature day.There is not a farm cat to be seen, as they are all snuggled in a heated area.     I can only hope that these cats have the mice under control, as I do not need to find one in my house! Garrett left for school, and of course, left the door open. In a matter of three minutes, this is what transpired. It's just cold outside!

Cold, Cold, Cold

Looking outdoors, we see green grass, blue skies, and a dusting of snow. Often times in January we have snow drifts all around the barn, not the case this year. Just by glancing at this, you would think it's maybe 30 degrees outside, and in reality it is below zero.

We are bundling up here in Iowa today! Wool socks, long underwear, hats, gloves, with layers and layers of clothing. I am trying to think back to all of those hot, hot days of Summer 2012. We had several days with a heat advisories and now we have the other extreme. Wind chill advisories will keep all of us on our toes the next few days here in Iowa.

On the bright side, Spring is just around the corner. Spring planting will be happening all around us, in what will seem like no time at all. Will you be staying in today or venturing out? After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?
