Hilton HHonors Teacher Treks Travel Grant Competition -Vote Today!

Disclosure: Sponsored Post. I will receive monetary compensation for participating in this campaign through Global Influence. The opinions expressed here are mine and nobody else's.

OK~ Another school year is close to wrapping up for many and this brings a time of reflection for many of us. Do you have a favorite teacher? Many of us have one teacher that made a positive impact in our lives. I did not realize it until several years later, that Mr. Harmon made a huge impact in my life. He challenged me in my writing. I will never forget the day he delivered the assignment of writing about your first childhood memory. Wow, as a 17 year old, that was a tough one! Think about that? He really challenged us, as that is not an easy topic to write about. I loved his classes and loved the fact that he challenged me. And due to the fact that he "bumped" into my Mom a few years later in a local business and asked her where my writing had taken me, I am writing here today!

As a strong supporter of teachers, I am sharing the Hilton HHonors Teacher Treks program with you. This program will fund 15 teachers to travel and to experience first-hand the subject they teach, enriching their curriculum and inspiring students to explore the world. Hilton Worldwide has long believed that the power of travel will bring people together and understands that teachers can have a huge impact in the lives of students. We all understand the importance of new experiences of opportunities and experiences when it comes to our kids and learning. What an opportunity!

A panel of judges, including K-12 teachers and other education experts selected by IIE, narrowed the competition down to 30 finalists from 20 different states. As organized as their lesson plans, the applicants mapped out their travel dreams by detailing creative and engaging itineraries. These travel dreams include discovering how Shakespearean theater resonates with different European cultures, and even learning how Shanghai became the global leader of math by participating in a week-long Math Olympiad program in China.

The cool thing about  this- 15 winners will receive a grant valued at $6000 to travel to a destination of their choice; in addition to the trip, each winning teachers' school will also receive a $2,500 grant to use for cultural activities or enhancements. 15 runners-up will receive a $2,500 grant for their school to use for cultural activities or enhancements. One winner from all submissions will receive a cultural excursion for their classroom valued at $1,500. And if you vote in the Teacher Treks competition, you too can win! 10 random winners will receive one Hilton HHonors Gift Card valued at $250.

You can vote once per day. For full details and an opportunity to vote visit Hilton HHonors Teacher Treks today! Be sure to let your local parent teacher group at your school know about this fantastic opportunity- this is a great way to bring excitement to your child's school. Don't forget to register to earn points for travel, as well! After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

  1. What a wonderful way for teachers to travel and then come back and share their experiences with students! I have read all of the essays and my favorite by far is Sandra K. She wrote that she would like to travel to the Indian Ocean islands of Zanzibar, just off the coast of Tanzania, and Mauritius, east of Madagascar “… to observe firsthand how the people on both of these islands – comprised of minorities and the meeting of cultures that have been in conflict in other parts of the world – have found ways to live side-by-side…”
What an admirable goal. I hope she is one of the winners.

  2. They were all awesome~ I think this is really a fantastic way for students to have the opportunity to explore new areas of the world. Just by voting and taking a glance at what is in these essays, opens the doorway for a new experience!
