OK~ Here we are almost through another school year and another prom season has rolled around. Our youngest is a senior, which is probably not a surprise to many of you that read my posts on a regular basis. Prom is tonight and he is not going. Many people have said to me, "What? Why? He has to go to his Senior Prom?" My response is, "He has no desire to go." Hard to believe this cute little kid is almost 18 years old! From Pre-School to 6' 3" tall!
As I am glancing through Facebook and seeing all of the stunning clothes that his classmates are wearing, I am thinking to myself, "He would look sharp, too!" And then again I think to myself, "What is so bad about him hanging out at home on a Saturday night?" He and his Dad are fixing something on his truck. I, of course, have no clue what it is. I can tell you that it involves a soldering iron, as we had to run to town to purchase one. The one we have in the house had mysteriously disappeared, go figure!
I do not have to worry about him returning home in the wee hours of the morning, or attending a party that he should not be at. So, in the grand scheme of things, this is OK.
On a side note, I must say that the photos that I am seeing, in regards to prom dresses, are rather revealing. I have seen pictures of girls from the Kansas City area and they were wearing long, beautiful gowns that covered their backs, bellies, and thighs. Ummmmm...... locally, I am seeing a lot of bellies, backs, and thighs. Makes me wonder if any school dress codes will matter.
There is a reason that God gave this Mom two boys, as I honestly do not know how a Mom of a high school senior could go shopping for a prom dress this day in age. I can tell you that my parents would not have let me out of the house with a dress up to my hips! My age is showing and I am thankful that I have a son that is hanging out with Mom and Dad on prom night. My pocketbook is also breathing a sight of relief. After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?
