OK~ As a past 4-H member I was extremely pleased to see how alive and kicking our local 4-H clubs are. The North Iowa Fair was held this past week and it was fun to see that kids are still being creative. Take a quick peak at some of the projects that were selected for the Iowa State Fair. The talent here is incredible!
Kids of all ages were showing rabbits, chickens, sheep, pigs, horses, cows, and even geese! Every 4-H member that shows their animals is very proud. You can see the pride in their eyes when they show their animals. Let's face it, it takes discipline to raise an animal, get an animal ready for show, and show the animal. Kaitlyn enjoys showing horses and chickens~ Here she is with one of her winning chickens!
When you dine at the 4-H Food Stand, 4-H kids wait on you and take your order. It is ran like a restaurant, except you have to read the menu on the wall; as their are no actual menus. Or, if you have a specific question about the food offered, just ask your waiter; these kids are more than willing to help you out! Upon entering the 4-H Food Stand there was a bulletin board featuring all of the activities 4-H has to offer- check this out!
4-H is alive and kicking here in North Iowa. There are 4-H clubs nationwide. I would encourage you to involve your child in 4-H. It's an organization that teaches life long skills. I have to say- those demonstrations that I did on "The Color Wheel" and "Safety In The Kitchen" gave me the experience of talking in front of people, that I would not trade today for anything. I was in Grade School when I did those two presentations. Those two presentations were a ground breaking event for me, which led to more speaking opportunities in 4-H and throughout my adult life.
Connect with your local 4-H Club- you will be glad you did. After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?
