OK~ We've got this new menu item at our home that I'm still trying to wrap my taste buds around this.
Are you a salmon fan? What is the secret to developing a taste to really enjoy this fish? I'm open to suggestions. Having been a meat and potatoes family for years, this fish thing once or twice a week is new to us. Sure, we have had the fried fish that we catch in the lake; but that's a whole other ball game. That fish involves oil, a frying pan, and lots of batter.
The clue that we were beginning to eat healthier was when our 18 year old son commented with, "We are eating that again?" It was at that point that I realized we were doing the right thing. Seriously, this eating fish thing a couple times a week is so different, it's a major adjustment.
We are told that salmon is good for us. It's supposed to be good for our cholesterol levels and heart healthy. Due to the fact that we have a lot of heart disease in our family, it was time to make this necessary change.
We have also found that it's easier to eat healthy during the summer months, as opposed to the winter months. Our family loves watermelon. Watermelon is abundant in our stores right now and it makes for an easy snack on a hot summer day!
If you eat salmon, I'd love to hear how you cook it, bake it, grill it, season it, or whatever you do to make it tasty. I'm struggling to like this fish. Give me your suggestions, as I am all eyes and ears. After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?
