Are We Really This Lazy?

OK~ This is really, really one of my biggest pet peeves. Would someone enlighten me as to what is so difficult when it comes to putting a shopping cart in a cart corral? This was the sight this afternoon in one of our local parking lots.

The excuses I can imagine are as follows:

  • It is 29 degrees outside and it's too cold to return the cart to the cart corral.
  • I don't care if I get another ding on my car or your car!
  • Someone else surely wants to shop with this cart.
  • Adding one more cart to the mess won't matter.
  • I'm just lazy!
Well, I managed to stack about six of them together and push them back into the store. I honestly think people are just lazy and rude. I can tell you that I do not proclaim to be perfect, but I can tell you that I do not think highly of someone when I see them do this. On this particular day, I saw nobody leave these. This mess of carts is taking up seven parking spaces that are, in fact, pretty close to the front doors.

I'm sure every cart has an excuse, so I am probably wrong to judge these folks as lazy. So, tell me. Do you think highly of someone when they show lazy like this? And today we had fairly calm winds, but can you imagine the damage these carts can do to vehicles when it is windy outside?

Oh well, it's just another day for this Mom. I wonder if my boys would have grabbed six of them and taken them inside the store. Something tells me they would go right along with the others and add another one to the mix. This Mom would like to think otherwise, but unfortunately I believe they would follow along with what appears to be the majority. They are 18 and 22 and would probably go right along with what the other folks have done. After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

  1. I think it's totally lazy. If you are able to push the cart around the store, you can push it right into a corral. I park far away from corrals. And, if I'm at a store where parking is especially chaotic, I will just park in the very back.

  2. I agree that it is laziness. It goes right along when people throw a paper towel away in a public restroom and they see that it falls out of the garbage - they just leave it on the ground even though they just saw it happen. I don't want to guess how many extra carts and paper towels I have put in their proper location...
