Summer Is Still Alive, But Fall Is Knocking On Our Doorsteps

OK~ It's that time of year when I'm really not ready for Summer to end, but I know it's coming. Just look at how beautiful our skies were today. All of this green will soon turn to crops that will be ready for harvest with their brown hue. I will miss all of this green.

And then there are the apple trees. Our apple trees have produced a nice crop this year and I'm excited about that.

With Fall knocking on our doorsteps, it's time to think about getting ready for all that cold that is sure to arrive too soon! So, I'm thinking I need to take inventory of my sweaters, although it seems like I just packed them away. They were packed away the middle of June, which was three short months ago. I have not been in a clothing store for a few weeks, but I'm thinking it's safe to presume that Fall clothing is out in full force. The thermometer is reading upper 70's to 80's, so I can continue to sport my summer clothing.

The new school year has officially started for most families. For many it seems that the new school year means the welcoming of Fall. For me, I'm sticking with the calendar. I've got a few more Summer days!

At what point does Fall become reality for you? I'm seriously digging my heels on this one. I want the color to stay, I want the warm temps to stay and it's fair to say that I'm not ready for Fall colors! How do you accept the change of the seasons? Do you welcome them or want the current one to stay? After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?

  1. Fall seems to be when school starts for me.. I just take it as it comes as with lots of family activities it seems as though I don't have time to fight it! Plus I love fall d orations.

    1. School activities do keep families busy. I actually took inventory last night, I have ZERO fall decorations. When I say I am not a home decorating person, I do mean it! I do have Christmas stuff and that's about it!

  2. We are having such a strange year as far as weather goes. It's like summer never did quite come out full force (not that I mind not hitting the 90s for weeks on end or the humidity) The spring seemed almost too cool. I dont know about you because we are in different parts of the state, but the garden was affected. Usually I have a bumper crop of tomatoes, and this year no one really did that well. Peppers were great and still are and apples and some people I know who have pears did well,, but it was just an odd weather year. I am wondering how winter will be. I am betting on a mild one and hoping so!

    1. Our garden was late getting in, 2nd year in a row due to all the moisture. It appeared our tomatoes were not going to do well, but as of the last two weeks they really took off. Overall, our garden did fine. I'm sure a little more heat would have helped and we did water it daily when we had nothing falling from the sky. Yeah, not sure what to brace for in regards to winter.
