The Plane Trip To Nowhere

OK~ It's been a long Winter and I'm ready to kick it to the curb. Yesterday I ventured on a plane trip to nowhere. Yep- it was an interesting day. Myself and Laura of Cat Tales With Laura and Beth Ann of It's Just Life were headed to the BAM Conference in Nashville, Tennessee.

We traveled to Minneapolis the night before, which turned out to be the wisest move we made throughout this whole adventure. The three of us were looking forward to meeting new people, learning more in regards to the blogging industry and enjoying Nashville, Tennessee. And then Mother Nature decided that Thor needed to appear with a vengeance.

We boarded on time in Minneapolis to head to Kansas City to catch our connecting flight into Nashville, Tennessee. While in air, with our phones on airplane mode, we received text messages that our flight out of Kansas City to Nashville was canceled. Really? This message arrived 10 minutes after our departure out of Minneapolis. Only the airline Gods know why the timing was so interesting in all of this. We saw this message upon landing in Kansas City and knew that a magic wand was going to have to appear.

We got off of our plane and headed to the Southwest Gate Agents desk. And then the news- we can get you to Chicago, Atlanta or you can stay here for standby for Saturday, as there is nothing going today and everything is full tomorrow. Being stuck for two days anywhere was not appealing and the dreaded words "Standby for Saturday" were not exciting either. So... what would you do? The roads to Nashville were a skating rink and Lord knows for how long.

We opted to fly back to Minneapolis and return home for the weekend. We were bummed out that we would not be meeting so many awesome midlife bloggers and enjoying Nashville, Tennessee. The plane trip to nowhere did take me from Minneapolis to Kansas City and back to Minneapolis in one morning!

If there is one thing that I have learned in my 40 something years of life it is the fact that everything we do is controlled by a greater being. For whatever reason, myself, Laura and Beth Ann were not supposed to be in Nashville this weekend. I really don't know why, but I know there is a reason.

It's been a tough 10 days for us North Iowa Bloggers and I'm thinking this is where the tough stops! I am so looking forward to the next conference that comes up to attend with Beth Ann and Laura. We were set to have the time of our lives this weekend and I know more awesome is in our future. So.... I am home with my family making the most out of the weekend that could have been. After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?
