OK~ The Caucus is quickly approaching and tonight I headed to our local high school to see Former President Bill Clinton on a campaign stop for Hillary Clinton. I am not a registered Democrat, but I can tell you that here in Iowa, we have the opportunity to meet all the candidates when caucus season rolls around. I think it's important for us Iowans to hear what they have to say and then make a "wise" choice come caucus night.
I honestly decided to go see the former President about 15 minutes before the doors opened. I knew I had time to spare and it would all be good. I travel a lot and I have so many people that comment to me, "Oh, you are lucky. The candidates don't ever bother to step foot in our state." That statement is very true. As an Iowan, I can say that I probably take it for granted, and need to change that to being grateful.
We live in a free country, which is something to appreciate in itself. We also have the right to vote, whereas many in our world never have the opportunity. Tonight, Former President Bill Clinton reminded me of my roots in the Methodist religion, as Hillary is a Methodist. I have been a life long Methodist and there is something to be said about our roots. We, as Methodists, do care about others and strive to make a difference. I do agree, Hillary does have a history or trying to bring out the good in people. Although, I'm not ready to hop on her campaign wagon at this time.
All of the candidates are traveling through our state and will continue up until Monday evening. I'm not sure if I will venture out to see another one or not. Honestly, I'm getting about campaigned out. I think back to that caucus night in 2011, as I was not a happy camper.
I am really glad that I did make the time tonight to go see Former President Bill Clinton. It's not everyday that your local high school is taken over by the Secret Service, with a visit from a former President of the United States. After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?
