#SPONSORED: Smartphone Tips For Keeping Your Family Safe Over Halloween

Disclosure: As part of the Better Moments Blogger Brigade Program, I did receive compensation for this post. The opinions here are mine and nobody else's. I have been a U.S. Cellular customer for 15+ years. In fact, I have never been with another cell phone company

OK~ Halloween is closing in on us. Does it feel like we just had this holiday? We've put some tips together for you to keep your family safe this season. First and most importantly, introduce your family to U.S. Cellular's parent/child agreement. This is where the offline conversations happen with your kids. Talk about what you expect and let them know the rules when it comes to using their smartphones. Halloween should be no different than any other day of the year. Safety is always first.

My Samsung Galaxy S7 is my go to device anytime of the year. I can take fantastic photos and I have access to several apps that will keep myself and my family safe. At home or traveling, there's an app for everything. Here are some tips to make this Halloween your best ever!

Your smartphone offers an opportunity to take great photos to share with friends and family. Before your kiddos head out the door, take a photo of them without their costume/mask on and then take a photo of them all decked out for your community's Halloween events. This way, should a problem arise, you have current photos of them stored on your smartphone.

There seems to be an app for everything. Did you know that there's an app for parents wanting to keep track of kids head out out the door called "Find My Friends"? This app comes pre-installed on iPhones and is available for download on Android smartphones through Google Play. This app can be set to show the location of devices so a child's whereabout can be identified at all times. I personally think this is a great app, but there are times when I long for the simpler times of trick or treating. When I went trick or treating, we went to aunts, uncles and grandparent's homes. The 1970's were a much simpler time. But, with technology, today can be safer and smarter than a few years ago.

Today's trick or treaters do not need to haul around a flashlight. Did you know that today's smartphones have built in flashlights? Many popular superhero costumes are popular, but unfortunately they do not come with superhero vision. Voila~ Smartphones to the rescue!

Halloween night is not the time for your child's smartphone to quit working. Popular apps can often be the culprit when it comes to a battery draining quickly. Be prepared. The simplest way to tackle this situation is to have a Mophie Juice Pack on board. There are no cables needed, as your smartphone case is where the charging takes place. I'm all about simple and that's my #1 tip. Who has time to mess around with chargers and cords while out trick or treating with kids? Safety rules and the simpler the better.

Make 2016, your best Halloween ever. Smartphones do make things easier when used correctly. Remember to start the conversations about safety offline and then carry the conversations online when it comes to being safe. After All, It's All In a Mom's Day, Right?
